The Imbokodo Letters · Take Part

Three steps. Any country. Any language.

Open to any woman, anywhere in the world. A few lines is enough; up to ten pages is welcome. Write when you are ready — and submit it right here.

Read the story first
01 · Write

Write your letter

Address it to a daughter, a granddaughter, a young woman you mentor, or simply the next woman who will walk a road you’ve already walked. Type it straight into the form below, or write by hand and photograph it — the story and gentle prompts are all right here on this page.

02 · Submit

Submit it right here

One form, one click — your letter, your name choice, and how far it may travel, with your blessing attached. Typed or uploaded as a photo, scan or document. In any language.

03 · Be published

Take your place on the Wall

Your letter is reviewed with love and published on the Wall of Letters — exactly in your words, in your language, under the name you chose. We email you when it’s live — and if your blessing allows, it’s also eligible for the printed anthology.

Your place on the Wall starts here.

Everything below travels exactly as far as your blessing allows — nothing more.

A word of care

Some letters come from hard places — that is their power. But if you are in danger or in a dark place right now, please reach for a hand before a pen: in South Africa, SADAG's 24-hour line 0800 567 567 or the GBV Command Centre 0800 428 428; elsewhere, befrienders.org lists a helpline in your country. Your letter can wait for you. You matter more than it does.

The Imbokodo Way

Our gentle guidelines

So every letter lifts the woman who reads it — and protects the woman who wrote it.

Write from your scars, not your wounds

The letter shares what the season taught you, once you’d come through it.

No naming, no shaming

No identifying any person, family or business, and no accusation stories. "Because of what I lived through, I learned ..." is the pattern — the letter is for her, not about them.

Empowering only

Hard truths are welcome; bitterness is not. If the letter leaves the reader smaller, it isn’t ready yet.

Your own story only

Every woman tells hers, no one else’s.

Any language of the heart

Write in the language you love in. Your words are published in your language first — a translation may sit alongside, never instead.

Reviewed with love

Words are never edited — but a letter may be sent back with a gentle note if it needs a name removed or its anger cooled.

Not sure where to start?

Begin with any of these

"The thing about money nobody told me is ..."
"When everything fell apart, what actually saved me was ..."
"You do not have to wait until you feel ready, because ..."
"The thing I'm most glad I did — and almost didn't do — was ..."
"People will tell you ... — don't believe them."
Your letter, your blessing

Shared only with your blessing

  • Your letter appears under your full name, first name, or anonymously — your choice, stated when you send it.
  • You decide how far it travels: kept private, on the Wall of Letters, or also in the printed anthology.
  • Changed your mind before it’s published? Write to us and it comes out — no questions asked.
  • Once published — on the Wall, in the book, or in a mailing — publication is final and cannot be revoked. Requests are always received with kindness, but removal is a courtesy, not a promise.
  • Every anthology copy sold funds the Imbokodo Scholarship — coaching, courses, programmes and events for women who really need them and cannot afford them.

Pass it on.

This page is meant to travel. Send it to the powerful women in your life — a sister, a friend, a colleague, a mentor — in any country. Every woman has a letter in her, and every letter makes the book richer.
